In view of the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has declared that meat shops and slaughterhouses, selling meat, chicken, and fish, will remain closed until 4 pm on that day.

During a press conference here, CM Sarma declared the closure of all meat and chicken outlets, along with slaughterhouses, in Assam until 4 pm. Additionally, he appealed to restaurants to refrain from serving non-vegetarian dishes until 2 pm on the auspicious occasion of ‘Pran Pratishtha.’

Further, CM Sarma declared the closure of both government and private educational institutions on this significant day.
He encouraged everyone to illuminate diyas in the evening as part of the consecration event. To uphold the religious sanctity of the occasion, a dry day in Assam has also been declared on January 22.

He also urged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi not to coincide his visit to the revered Batadrava Than (Bordowa Satra) with the consecration ceremony of Ayodhya temple on January 22.

Bordowa Satra is the holy pilgrimage site in central Assam — located in the birthplace of 15-16th century neo-Vaishnavite saint and scholar Srimanta Sankardeva.
